Shannon Dame

Shannon is a PhD student in BME at UD. She graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2025 with a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering. At UofM, she worked in Dr. Lonnie Shea’s lab, employing biomaterial implants as a remote monitoring tool for capturing immune dynamics during pregnancy. She received the Women and Gender Studies Summer Fellowship in 2024 and the Engineering Summer Fellowship in 2025 from UofM’s Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. In the Oakes Lab, Shannon is interested in understanding sex-based immunological differences contributing to autoimmunity.

Outside of the lab, she loves watching/playing softball, reading, biking, birding, and eating Italian subs.
