Lauren Porter

Lauren graduated from the University of Virginia in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering. At UVA, she worked in Dr. Chris Highley’s lab studying granular hydrogels and embedded bioprinting and received the Dean’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship for the summer of 2023.

In the Oakes lab, Lauren aims to research immunoengineering and biomaterials platforms to develop innovative ways to fight aggressive forms of cancer. Outside of the lab, she enjoys cooking, hiking, seeing live music, rooting for the Washington Commanders, and volunteering with Science Olympiad.
